Knowing how to read and write are extremely important. We live in an information society and need to know how to navigate and process the things around us.
I think it's amazing to see how children come alive and are so excited by a good story. It's even more amazing when they figure out how to read on their own. It's like their world opens up. We have some wonderful reading programs provided by our area public libraries to encourage a love of reading.

Arlington Reads is the literacy program of Arlington, TX Public Library. In addition to reading programs for all ages, they offer tutoring, GED classes and workplace computer literacy classes.

Get your child excited about reading! Read Across America is soon approaching. On March 2, the National Education Association calls for every child to be reading in the company of a caring adult.
